Our Team

The Abacus Board is comprised entirely of accountants in public practice who bring practical experience and a shared commitment to supporting their peers.

Abacus is unique in the insurance landscape. We operate as a mutual company whose members are practising accountants. Our Board of Directors are all accountants in public practice, meaning the organisation is guided by professionals who understand the industry from experience — not from the outside.

That difference shapes everything we do:

Member-Owned: We exist to serve public accountants, not external shareholders.
Profession-Specific: Every policy is tailored for public practice accounting firms.
Compliance-Focused: We ensure cover meets the requirements of CPA, CA ANZ, IPA, ATMA, and TI.
Underwritten by Trusted Insurers: Most members are covered by CGU (part of the IAG Group), with some policies placed through Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s.

DIRECTOR

I was appointed as a director of Abacus in 2024. I am a principal at Morella Tyson Chartered Accountants. I have been a principal at Morella Tyson since the start of 2022. The business is situated in Blackburn, Victoria, and was founded in 1981. Before Morella Tyson, I was a principal at Carrazzo Consulting in Hawthorn.
Michael D Delany

DIRECTOR

I was appointed as a director of Abacus in 2024. I am the principal at Peter Sutton & Co. The business is situated in Carlton, Victoria, and was founded in 1985. I have worked in the practice as a graduate, an accountant and a partner and have been the sole principal since 2017. I am a member of CPA Australia.

CHAIRMAN

In 1999, I was appointed to the board of Abacus, and I am a member of the Nominations Committee. I have a BSc and BEc from the University of Sydney and am a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Tax Institute of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Tali is Abacus’s dedicated broker at PSC Insurance Brokers, helping our members secure the right cover with clear advice and swift service. She arranges core policies for accountants—including Professional Indemnity, Cyber, and tailored Office Pack cover for public liability, contents and computers—and coordinates quotes and renewals through PSC’s national market reach and claims advocacy
