Unlike commercial brokers or general insurers, Abacus operates as a mutual organisation — owned by and run for accountants.
Our purpose is simple: to help public accounting firms meet their professional indemnity obligations with confidence, clarity, and integrity.
Our Mission
To protect and support public accountants through reliable, compliant, and fair insurance solutions — designed by professionals who understand the accounting industry from the inside.
Abacus ensures every member meets the Professional Indemnity requirements of their professional body, including CPA Australia, CA ANZ, IPA, ATMA, and TI.
We also support registered tax agents, SMSF auditors, and company auditors, all of whom are required to maintain valid PI cover.
Abacus is governed by a Board of Directors made up entirely of practising accountants.
This structure gives us a perspective few insurers can match — decisions are informed by real experience in public practice, not external shareholders.
